How We Farm
Our farming practices are guided by a simple principle: healthy soil is the foundation of healthy food.
We use rotational grazing to move cattle frequently across our pastures, allowing grasses and legumes time to recover and regrow. This improves root depth, increases plant diversity, and builds organic matter in the soil. Instead of relying on chemical inputs, we work to strengthen the natural biology of the land.
On land that was previously farmed in continuous corn and soybeans, we began by planting diverse cover crops. Cattle grazed those fields while naturally fertilizing the soil and incorporating plant material back into the ground. Over time, compacted and depleted soils were restored and replanted with perennial grass and legume pastures.
Today, our cattle are raised and finished on these nutrient-rich pastures. The result is healthier animals, better forage utilization, and beef that reflects the quality of the land it comes from.
We believe the old saying is true: you are what you eat. We would add—you are what your food ate.
Why We Do This
Though we each have our own farms, we all work together with one shared mission:
To be wise stewards of God’s land, to be faithful shepherds of His livestock, and to provide the best meat possible for his people.
When you choose Shepherd’s Bounty, you’re buying beef raised by a real family—one committed to caring for the land, the animals, and the people we serve.

"I received my package yesterday and the grill kit a few days before that. Thank you all so very much for the opportunity to have these prizes. With the way the industrial meat machine is moving these days it is refreshing to have good, healthy and delicious meat. I made burgers last night and do not remember them being that good since I was a child. Thank you and bless you all!!
OVERHEARD ON THE FARM 👂

Farm animals, like humans sometimes do get sick. When that happens, we work closely with our staff veterinarian to devise an appropriate treatment plan which may include antibiotics or steroids. We carefully follow manufacturer's recommendations for dosage and withdrawal time to ensure that our animals recover quickly and that there is no residual in the meat that you purchase.

No. Our animals spend their entire life on pasture. They are never confined in a feed lot. However, we do supplement them with a small amount of grain for several months during the finishing process. This approach provides the advantages of both feeding systems. Allowing the animal to consume a wide variety of different plants makes the meat more nutritious. The added grain provides more energy and allows us to finish the animals at a younger age than typical 100% grass fed beef. This enhances tenderness. The grain also provides a richer, more consistent flavor.
